We are seeking to appoint a dynamic, enthusiastic and well-qualified English teacher to join our friendly and hard-working team with effect from 1st September 2017. Applications are welcome from NQTs or experienced teachers, and the successful applicant will teach English across KS3 and KS4. We can offer excellent opportunities for career development in a faculty committed to rapidly improving the quality of teaching and learning. The English team consists of 6 teachers, and works with MFL as part of the Communications Faculty.
At The Dean Academy our vision is to strive for excellence, through collaboration, resilience and respect. We are proud to be a truly comprehensive school providing an education for all the students in Lydney and the surrounding area. The school is an 11-16 academy with 671 students on roll in a pleasant rural setting on the southern edge of the Forest of Dean. Many of our staff travel from Bristol, Cheltenham, Gloucester, Newport and Cardiff. It is not uncommon for many of our staff to car share.
In our most recent Ofsted inspection in February 2017, the inspectors commented that ‘the improvements in teaching, learning and assessment have been sustained and more recent developments have started to raise the quality further’ and that ‘students respond well to verbal and written feedback from the teacher, work well with each other and try hard to do their best.’
The Dean Academy is sponsored by The Athelstan Multi-Academy Trust. As a result there may be opportunities to work in schools across the Trust in the future, particularly those who wish to gain A Level teaching experience.
Please note that this post requires the successful candidate to undergo full DBS screening and The Dean Academy is committed to promoting and safeguarding the welfare of students.
Closing date for applications: Friday 7th April 2017, 12 Noon.
Interviews week beginning 24th April 2017
Please send your letter of application together with the completed application form to Mr Tom Beveridge, Head of School.
